Product basics

Product Categories

Product categories are a way to organize and group your products in your e-shop. They can help customers quickly find the products they are looking for by allowing them to browse through specific categories. For example, if you sell clothing, you might create categories such as “clothing”, “sportswear”, and “sleepwear” to help customers find the products they are interested in. You can create as many categories as you need and can easily modify them as needed. Using product categories can help improve the user experience on your e-shop and make it easier for customers to find what they are looking for.

Product tags

Product tags are a way to label and filter products in your e-shop. They can help customers quickly find the products they are looking for by allowing them to filter by specific tags, such as size, color, fabric, or style. You can assign tags independently to each product, or you can set up global tags that apply to all products on your e-shop. Using product tags can help improve the user experience and make it easier for customers to find the products they are interested in.

Product types

Your e-shop provides predefined product types to help save time when setting up your store. These product types are pre-configured with specific settings and options that are commonly used for each type of product. Some examples of predefined product types in your e-shop include simple products, variable products, and downloadable products. By using these predefined product types, you can quickly and easily set up your products without having to manually configure all of the settings and options yourself. This can help streamline the process of adding products to your e-shop and make it easier for you to manage your inventory.

  • A simple product is a product that does not have any options and is shipped as is. An example of a simple product might be a physical book.
  • A grouped product is a collection of similar items that are sold as a set. An example of a grouped product might be a dozen glasses.
  • An external or affiliate product is a product that is sold on another website, but is presented and promoted on your e-shop.
  • A variable product is a product that has multiple variations, such as size or color. An example of a variable product might be clothing.
  • A virtual product is a product that does not require shipping because it is a service or an intangible item.
  • A downloadable product is a product that can be downloaded, such as music, pictures, videos, ebooks, etc.

It can be confusing to choose a product type for your e-shop, but it is important to consider the specific characteristics and requirements of your product. For example, if you are selling a physical product without options, a simple product may be the best choice. If you are selling a product with variations, such as size or color, a variable product may be a better fit. By considering the unique characteristics of your product, you can choose the most appropriate product type for your e-shop.

General

In the General section of the Product Data section in your e-shop, you can set the price of the product you plan to sell. This is the price that customers will pay when they purchase the product from your store. You can also set a promotional price for the product, which is a discounted price that is only available for a limited time. If you want to schedule a sale for the product, you can set specific start and end dates for the sale in this section. These options allow you to easily manage the pricing of your products and run promotions to drive sales on your e-shop.

Inventory

The Inventory section in the Product Data section of your e-shop is where you can manage the stock of your products. Here, you can enter the Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) for the product, which is a unique identifier that helps you track your inventory. You can also indicate whether the product is in stock or out of stock, and set a stock quantity if applicable. If you only want to sell one of the products at a time, you can check the “Sell individually” option. These options allow you to effectively manage your inventory and ensure that you have the right amount of product available for your customers.

Shipping

It’s worth noting that the Shipping section in the Product Data section of your e-shop is optional, and you may not need to use it for all of your products. Shipping is typically predefined in the store settings, and you can use those default settings for most of your products. However, if you have specific shipping requirements or needs for a particular product, you can override the default shipping settings in the Shipping section of the Product Data. This can be useful if you need to set up different shipping options or costs for a particular product, or if you want to provide additional shipping information to your customers. Overall, the Shipping section is a useful tool for managing the delivery of your products, but it is not always necessary to use it for all of your products.

Linked Products

The Linked Products section in the Product Data section of your e-shop allows you to add related products and promote similar products to your customers. This can help increase sales and promote your products. To add related products, search for a particular product and select it from the drop-down list. By including upsells and cross-sells in the Linked Products section, you can encourage customers to buy additional related products, which can increase the average order value and boost your sales.

Attributes

The Attributes section in the Product Data section of your e-shop allows you to add specific characteristics or features to your product. For example, if you are selling t-shirts that are available in different colors, you can specify the available colors in this section. This can be useful for helping customers to find the specific product they are looking for, and can also help with the organization and management of your products. By adding attributes to your products, you can provide customers with more information about the products and make it easier for them to find what they are looking for in your e-shop.

Advanced

The Advanced section in the Product Data section of your e-shop allows you to customize various advanced settings for your products. Here, you can create purchase notes for customers, which are messages that will be displayed to customers when they purchase the product. You can also enable or disable notifications for the product, which can be useful for keeping track of orders and inventory. In the Advanced section, you can also specify the order of the product in the menu and choose custom order positions for your product. These options can be useful for organizing and managing your products and providing a better user experience for your customers.
